Raimund Hofmeister, CMC

Master Chef Raimund Hofmeister earned the Certified Master Chef title in 1985. 

Career highlights:

  • Born into a family of Chefs and Vintners, he grew up in the wine country of Rhineland Pfalz, Germany.
  • At 14 he decided to pursue a career as a Chef and graduated from the Badischer Hof in the famous Black Forest Resort of Baden-Baden.
  • He began a 20-year association with Westin Hotels when he joined the opening of the Carlton Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.
  • He immigrated to the United States to open Westin properties in Kansas City, Atlanta, Detroit, Tulsa and Maui, Hawaii.
  • He was appointed Executive Chef at the Five Star Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
  • In 1991 he moved on from the Century Plaza to establish “LACI” the first major international culinary training institute in Southern California.
  • In 1999-2001 he assumed the lead for a monumental project in Moscow, Russia to convert a 400-year-old Royal Estate into a prestigious business club for the Russian elite in politics and business.
  • He opened the Las Vegas Culinary Institute.
  • He earned the honor of ACF National Culinary Educator of the Year awarded to him in 2006 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  • In 2007 he accepted the position of General Manager of the newest location of Baltimore’s own Martin’s Caterers, the Valley Mansion located in Cockeysville, Maryland.
  • In 2016 Stratford University offered Chef Hofmeister the position of University Director for Culinary and Hospitality Management.
  • In May 2019 he took an interim position as Executive Chef at the world-famous Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles, California.
  • Then become the executive chef at the renowned Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, VA.
  • He moved to Davidson, NC to become the executive chef at the beautiful Pines.
  • He was named Chef of the Year by the Chef de Cuisine Association of California in 1983 and by the California Restaurant Writers Association in 1985.
  • As a member of the USA National Culinary Team he won numerous gold medals and grand awards at the prestigious International Culinary Arts Competition in Osaka, Japan, as well as the Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt, Germany.
  • In the 1986 World Cup Culinary Competition in Luxembourg, he was part of the four-member National Team that won the competition for the US.
  • In February of 1992 he was named one of the twelve best Chefs in the United States by the “Best of the Best” finest dining awards and received the Spirit of Giving Award by the City of Hope as the 1992 Food Service Person of the Year.
  • In April 2003 Chef Hofmeister was inducted into the Hall of Fame Society with the International Food and Beverage Forum at Johnson and Wales University Rhode Island.
  • Chef Hofmeister considers his crowning achievement was the close association he shared with President Ronald Reagan.
  • Chef Hofmeister was affiliated with most official and unofficial culinary events through the entire eight years President Reagan held office while he was based in Los Angeles at the Century Plaza Hotel, in culinary circles known as the “West Coast White House”.
